Did you ever feel like your house had a revolving front door? In the last few weeks, one daughter (Thing 1) has moved out, and one daughter (Thing 2) has moved in. Thing 1 is now living on her own and paying her own bills! Yahoo! She has successfully left our nest, but is still close enough to see frequently. Thing 2 moved in with all her bags and boxes, and enrolled herself at Collin County Community College. She is taking this next school year to decide what to pursue as a career. She is on the 5 year degree plan! : ) When Thing 2 moved back home, she brought along her cat. I like cats and have had fun watching him silently explore the house. He is a little shy, but he is slowly warming up to Allan and I. Lately, he joins me in the morning when I am doing the sudoko puzzle in the newspaper. He brazenly jumps on the table and pushes himself into the newspaper so that I must stop what I am doing and play with him. I think I will start doing my puzzle in the living room!

I think I'll get my dog a cat to play with when school starts up.
ReplyDeleteI had a cat about 20 years ago when I loved in Austin. It was a black kitten that showed up on my doorstep one day. I already had a wire hair terrier, but the dog took a liking to the kitten. As a matter of fact, the feeling was mutual. Every evening after work, I'd take the dog for a walk through the neighborhood and that cat would follow along - never leaving the dog's side. He would follow along for blocks until we made it back home. Neighbors would do double-takes as we walked down the sidewalks. The cat hung around for about two years and was suddenly gone one day. He got lots of food, care and attention, but I think a neighbor girl picked him up one day and took him home. I saw a cat that looked suspiciously like him about six months later on a street over. I never said anything, but I'm pretty sure it was him. I was glad that he had a home. Now, if it had been my dog, I would have called in the FBI.
I know you will enjoy your new friend. I absolutely love walking out and seeing our cat all curled up in the cutest ways. They are so darn cute!
